When to see a Gastroenterologist

Patients who experience any of the following symptoms should see a Gastroenterologist:

Upper GI Tract

  • Indigestion
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Gastroesophageal reflux
  • Nausea and vomiting

Liver Disease

  • Hepatitis
  • Cirrhosis

Lower GI Tract

  • Changes to bowel habits
  • Chronic constipation
  • Chronic diarrhea
  • Rectal bleeding

Concerning Symptoms

  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Iron deficiency anemia
  • Unexplained abdominal pain
